The OBARA Group's history goes back to the establishment of OBARA Metalworks, Ltd. in 1958. It subsequently expanded its domestic market, primarily in the manufacture of resistance welding equipment, and by 1980 it had captured a high share of the market. In the late 1980's, it began actively constructing a global network by setting up overseas bases.
